October
Full color illustration

October was a very busy month for me, so is November. In December I’ll be able to post more art, but for now – here is my Halloween-art that I managed to create between cold mugs of coffee, freelance and children with runny noses – the illustration is quite big and drawn with ink using a steel nib pen and color in Photoshop using a wacom intuos pro tablet.

I really miss drawing, I miss creating my own characters and letting my mind wander off to mysterious places, but all things has it’s own time and the benefit of being a 30+ woman is realizing there is no hurry, there is no hidden deadline in your own projects. If you wait, things fall into place. I guess it all differs, but because I’m usually working at a manic speed and don’t have to worry about not finding inspiration and because I don’t have doubts in my work-ethics I really have to learn to balance the other way around – don’t stress, some things are too damn great to be limited by the small breadcrumbs of time thrown in my Now – because I know I have more time Later, Later is the way to go.

Olander’s illustrations combine a lush painterly sensibility with a darkly playful take on girlish fun and the remixing of fantasy with the everyday.
